Recently, Civil Outsourcing had the opportunity to visit and collaborate with the University of Transport and Communications (UTC2) – one of Vietnam’s premier institutions in the technical field. This engagement is a key part of Civil Outsourcing’s long-term strategy to cultivate a steady and skilled engineering workforce, ensure rapid project delivery, and uphold high service standards for global clients.

The University of Transport and Communications (UTC), with its Northern and Southern campuses, is a highly regarded technical university in Vietnam specializing in transportation, construction, and infrastructure. Over the decades, UTC has trained tens of thousands of engineers contributing significantly to the nation’s infrastructure development.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering currently comprises five departments: Road and Railway Engineering, Bridge, Tunnel and Metro Engineering, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Foundation Engineering. The Faculty has 55 teaching staff, including 2 Associate Professors, 20 PhDs, 34 Masters, and 1 Architect.

In an open and professional atmosphere, representatives from Civil Outsourcing had the privilege to meet and engage with the Faculty’s leadership and senior lecturers, including:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Phuc – Vice Dean, Secretary of the Party Committee, overseeing Scientific Research and External Affairs

  • Dr. Tran Thi Truc Lieu – Vice Dean, Deputy Party Secretary, Head of Civil and Industrial Construction Engineering, in charge of Training and Student Affairs

  • Dr. Ho Viet Long – Deputy Head of Bridge, Tunnel, and Metro Engineering

  • Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tung – Lecturer, Bridge, Tunnel, and Metro Engineering

  • MSc. Pham Ngoc Bay – Lecturer, Bridge, Tunnel, and Metro Engineering

We are grateful for the warm welcome and insightful discussions, which laid a strong foundation for meaningful and sustainable cooperation.

From this meeting, several practical collaboration directions were identified:

  • Internship Programs: Offering students real-world project exposure through internships supervised by experienced mentors, using actual data from projects across the USA, UK, Australia, and other international markets

  • Career Opportunities: Prioritizing full-time recruitment for interns who complete the program successfully

  • Office Visits: Allowing students to visit and observe the real working environment at Civil Outsourcing

  • Research Collaboration: Involving students in real research topics and case studies from international projects

  • Event Participation: Engaging in university activities such as Career Fairs, Scientific Conferences, and sponsoring scholarships for outstanding students

For Civil Outsourcing, investing in future engineers is not just a recruitment effort, but a strategic commitment to securing a resilient and globally competitive technical workforce.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Faculty of Civil Engineering’s leadership for partnering with Civil Outsourcing to nurture future professionals who will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow.

Civil Outsourcing representatives had the opportunity to meet and work directly with the Faculty’s leadership and senior lecturers

As part of the program, Mr. Aiden Tong – CEO & Founder of Civil Outsourcing – hosted a candid and inspiring session with the students, discussing the real challenges and opportunities in the engineering field today.

Aiden shared:

“We may not always be in the spotlight, but every bridge, road, and building is a testament to the silent dedication of engineers. What we build lasts – and that’s what gives our work true value.”

He emphasized that students today are entering a “golden era”:

  • Vietnam is rapidly developing, with infrastructure and digital transformation accelerating the demand for skilled engineers

  • Countries like the USA, Australia, UK, and Canada are facing severe shortages in engineering talent, particularly those ready for global working environments

  • Despite AI and automation trends, human engineers with sound judgment and responsibility remain irreplaceable in complex technical projects

“Opportunities are abundant – but only for those with the courage and capability to seize them.”

Mr. Aiden Tong – CEO & Founder of Civil Outsourcing – had an open and heartfelt session with the students, sharing insights into the opportunities, challenges, and real-world value of the civil engineering profession in today’s context.

During the Q&A session, Aiden addressed common student concerns such as:

  • Lack of practical experience despite years of study

  • Uncertainty about career paths post-graduation

  • Challenges of writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and choosing between design or construction roles

  • Family pressure to quickly secure a stable, well-paid job

  • Fear of not being good enough or failing expectations

He encouraged students to see these worries as natural and transform them into motivation:

“You are not alone. Use your doubts to fuel your breakthrough.”

Aiden outlined five core aspirations every student should aim for:

  1. A career aligned with their major

  2. A mentor to support their growth

  3. A good income to build independence

  4. The ability to give back to their families

  5. A clear, promising career path

“The future belongs to those who start now, who move forward with persistence and courage.”

At the meeting, Civil Outsourcing also took the opportunity to introduce the company in detail — one of Vietnam’s leading engineering outsourcing firms

One of the most memorable parts of the event was a heartfelt sharing from two UTC alumni: Henry Tran (Civil Director) and Kelly Vo (Drafting Director), now in key leadership roles at Civil Outsourcing.

They reflected on their early days full of questions like:

“What will I do after graduation?” or “Am I even suited for this path?”

Through persistence and support, they overcame tough challenges, from:

  • Meeting high expectations in international projects

  • Tight deadlines and complex standards

  • Their first big wins under mentor guidance

  • To finally seeing their designs come to life on major construction sites

Their stories conveyed a clear message:

“Success is not a matter of luck – it’s earned through effort, courage, and perseverance.”

Their experiences also reflect Civil Outsourcing’s core human resource philosophy:

  • Grow leaders from within
